Despite the company´s original plans to celebrate the launch in Valencia, where there is a Ford production plant, the hotels and infrastructure-in the Marbella area made them change their minds. The 18,000 guests invited to view and test drive the new Fiesta will be accommodated in Marbella hotels and will then be taken to Estepona for the tests of the vehicle, which will take place on some of the roads in the area, including the N-340. Each guest will remain on the Costa del Sol for around 26 hours. For part of the event the organisation has rented the Palacio de Congresos in Estepona, where work to improve the facilities is currently under way. Specialist journalists from all over Europe have already arrived on the Costa del Sol, where the prototype of the new Fiesta is being kept in a top secret location. These journalists however have had to agree with Ford that they will not divulge any information until the beginning of March, the date for the Fiesta´s official presentation to the general public. Costa del Sol could not have come at a better time for, hoteliers who saw a 10.8 per cent drop in business last month the Fiesta's official presentation compared to the previous year.
